Lodge Overview

Perched dramatically on the edge of a rocky bluff, which protrudes from the Mokogodo escarpment and overlooks a valley filled with Acacia and Newtonia trees. Staying at Tassia means removing yourself from the world as you know it (no tv, no internet, no cell reception) – whether walking through the bush or scrambling up to the caves where the Maasai used to live, you will not meet another car or tourist.Tassia lodge captures all elements of the Kenyan bush and is an ideal escape for those searching for a taste of unspoiled Africa. Set in a stunning wilderness area, situated on the 60,000 acre Lekurruki Community Ranch; it gives a spectacular and breathtaking view of the Northern Frontier District towards Samburu and its neighbours, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Borana Ranch..

Accommodation

There are 6 spacious rooms, which can be adapted for families.Each banda (bungalow) is unique and all are en suite with loo and shower.The side of the room facing the view is completely open, giving an unobstructed view of the wilderness and wildlife below. Other features of the lodge include a horizon swimming pool, dinning room, bar, ‘Chill out and deck area and a shop, which provides you with an eclectic mix of jewellery & clothes from talented Kenyan artisans. didunt

Cuisine

Antonia is a Leith’s trained chef and creates exciting sumptuous food. The food is an exotic mixture of African, Mixture Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, using home grown, organic ingredients

Activities

At Tassia the game is truly wild and can often be well dispersed, which makes tracking with your guide on foot more exciting. The amount of game is dependent on the water in the area. There are elephant, buffalo, giraffe, Greater and Lesser kudu, Gerenuk, Waterbuck, Grevy zebra, We also have sightings of leopard, cheetah, wild dog, spotted and stripped hyena, the rare golden cats and many other varieties of mammals and birds. As well as some of the most diverse Flora in the Laikipia region.
    • Gentle botanical walks led by guide to learn the traditional cultural medicinal uses of plants. trees and shrubs as well as the wildlifes uses for them and their names
    • Bush Walks tracking wildlife lasting 1 – 2 hours
    • Hikes tailored individually to guests needs, this can include climbing Mt Lolos which can take around 6 hours and not for the faint hearted. Also hikes to Blood Mountain which include the Tribal history of the area
    • Walk to the caves and rock shelters where the Mokogodo Maasai lived for 40,000 years.
    • Explore the Mokogodo forest, especially enjoyable for those keen on birds
