Each of our tents is packed into an extraordinary, utterly unique mobile unit we call the Rover – hence the name Roving Bushtops. We conceived, designed and created the revolutionary format ourselves, introducing something genuinely innovative to African safaris, and indeed the world. The short video shows the action unfolding – literally!
Small is beautiful.
The Bushtops smallest destination has just eight tents, but maintains the exceptional standards set by all Bushtops camps. Each of our unique wheeled tents provides exclusive comfort and a haven of peace at the heart of your Serengeti adventure. Pinch yourself, to confirm you’ve truly reconnected – to paradise!

Pinch yourself, to confirm you’ve truly reconnected – to paradise!
Your tented space is actually a stunningly-appointed five-star ensuite haven, under canvas.
During the day it is open on three sides, letting you gaze out at timeless, endless vistas, interrupted only by birdsong. Relax, or ask your personal butler to arrange a hot tub in the sunken bathtub, a massage on the deck, or a meal in the privacy of your tent.
Then, after a day’s adventures, slip under fresh linen in your king size bed before being lulled to sleep by the timeless music of the Serengeti.
UP TO 6 GUESTS
Flexible accommodation.
Because our tents are on wheels, they can be combined to create family suites. We are equally adaptable with beds, replacing doubles with singles, or adding extra singles for children aged seven or more.
The camp’s main base sits proudly in the heart of the Central Serengeti, in the Seronera valley. Not only does our superb location provide exceptional year-round game viewing, the migration passes through twice a year, usually during June/July and October/November.

ROVING SOUTH
When Roving Bushtops makes its move, our favoured location is Kusini in the south of the Serengeti. We travel to coincide with the wildebeest birthing season, which sees half a million calves (up to 8,000 a day) take their wobbly first steps between January and March/April. With eager predators in search of an easy meal, we are privileged to witness life and death adventures, from Roving Bushtops’ southern home.

There is nothing quite like soaring high above the herds, watching the sunrise and the land stretching out in all directions.
Each balloon adventure is an optional extra, provided by a third party. If you decide to make this part of your itinerary, please give us prior notice: we can then arrange the booking for you.
The adventure begins early! You will be picked up from your tent before dawn, ready for a briefing and launch as the sun makes its appearance. The flight lasts an unforgettable hour or slightly longer, before your balloon is brought gracefully back to earth. Then, after a celebratory Bush champagne breakfast, you are free to head off on a full day’s day game drive or return to camp for a leisurely morning (or to catch up on your sleep).
NATURE WALK
Wandering around the Serengeti unprepared is a dangerous game, but stretching your legs close to home is a rare pleasure. Our Kuria guards and spotters make this both safe and informative, escorting guests on private nature walks through the camp grounds.
Each mini expedition takes between 20-45 minutes, with your local experts sharing first-hand, close-up insights into the amazing flora and fauna that surround you. This is your chance to do something few others ever do – spotting game, birds, insects, tracks and maybe even predators (from a safe distance!).
PRIVATE BUSH BREAKFAST
The first meal of the day is not usually the most memorable, but then it doesn’t usually take place surrounded by African grasslands. At Roving Bushtops we like to share the drama of a waking world, as a Serengeti night gives way to day. So after an early morning wake-up call, we take you into the Bush to watch the sun rise, the animals change shifts and a new adventure begins to unfold. Your Private Bush breakfast awaits you …
SCHOOL VISIT
When we were planning Roving Bushtops, we were keen to maintain the precedent set by our two existing camps, Mara Bushtops and Serengeti Bushtops: forming partnerships with local schools. As soon as we secured our fabulous main location in Seronera we created links to local Robanda primary and secondary schools. This lets us support the education of local children and their communities, through a combination of sponsorships, donations and shared activities.
SERENGETI SUNDOWNER
At each Roving Bushtops location, we have discovered several wonderful spots from which to bid farewell to the day. Each looks out at stunning vistas and creates wonderful memories, as we establish our African version of a pop up bar, light a fire and watch darkness fall over the landscape. As we reconnect with the ritual of watching the sunset, what could be more timeless and enticing?
