Manda Bay is a small privately owned boutique lodge located on the northern tip of Manda Island in the Lamu archipelago on Kenya’s coast. An unspoilt, secluded location where you can switch off from the rest of the world, take your shoes off and enjoy simplistic beauty in palm thatched cottages and open living spaces. Manda Bay combines the ultimate bush and beach experience with miles of soft white sand on a private beach and Coconut palms mixed with Doum palms, Acacia Tortilis and a variety of wildlife.

Manda Bay is the perfect escape for families, honeymooners, and couples looking for the ultimate ‘no shoes, no news’ experience and is renowned for its wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with a variety of activities on offer.

Accommodation

There are 16 luxurious cottages (11 beach front and 5 sea view) flawlessly-designed and in keeping with local landscape. Nine of the rooms are set right along the seafront with the other rooms set in-between and slightly behind. Each cottage has a large ceiling fan and refreshing showers inside the en-suite bathrooms and own private verandahs.

Beachfront Rooms

There are 11 beachfront rooms which are situated right on the seawall and are therefore closest to the water and beach when it comes out at low tide. Large open rooms with 7ft beds either twin or Kingsize and room for one or 2 extra beds for children if required. Room 11 is an extra large villa able to accommodate 3 extra beds. There is a dressing table, information booklet, charging plugs ( 220volts – 3 pin), hairdryer, drinking water, toiletries in the bathroom, 2 sets of towels per person, beach towels, basket for use whilst staying for shell collecting and beach combing, twin washbasins, W/C and walk-in shower.

Rate: $385 per person sharing / $440 per single room. Children $280 . Christmas Supplement $100 per person

Palm Rooms

There are 5 Palm rooms which are set slightly further back from the Seawall on higher ground behind the Beachfront rooms. Room 7 is a family cottage with an extra room and bathroom able to accommodate upto 3 children. The rooms are cool and airy with a sea breeze and are made up of 7ft beds either twin or Kingsize and room for one or 2 extra beds for children if required. There is a dressing table, information booklet, charging plugs ( 220volts – 3 pin), hairdryer, drinking water, toiletries in the bathroom, 2 sets of towels per person, beach towels, basket for use whilst staying for shell collecting and beach combing, twin washbasins, W/C and walk-in shower.

Rate: $365 per person sharing / $420 per single room. Children $260 . Christmas Supplement $100 per person.

Garden Rooms

There are 6 Garden rooms. These smaller rooms, close together and are situated in the middle of the property. They were originally designed for teenagers to make family travel more affordable but they have been very popular with many of our clients especially for fisherman who are out all day or families and couples who want a more affordable option. They have standard sized twin/double Divan beds, information booklets, charging plugs ( 220-240 volts), wardrobe, shower, W/C and wash stand. All toiletries, linens, drinking water, outside chairs and swing bed.

Rate: $280 per person sharing / $300 per single room. Children $200 . Christmas Supplement $100 per person.

Activities

There is something for everyone at Manda Bay. One can enjoy the comforts and the beautiful setting, in addition to the activities on offer which include relaxing by the water or indulging in a massage. If you are feeling energetic there are water sports such as deep sea fishing in search of the Marlin and Sailfish, windsurfing, water skiing and scuba diving to name a few, cultural visits and dhow safaris. There is also a games room overlooking the sea, complete with a pool table, darts and table tennis.

Welcome to this water sports paradise. The setting is in a sheltered mangrove creek and the calm waters here are ideal for water skiing. Guests can ski at high tide, yet just outside the creek there is generally enough breeze for sailing, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. There is also provision for windsurfing instruction to beginners.

Manda has four ski boats and a large selection of skis and other equipment, including a six-man ocean rider (Banana), an air chair, super-screamers (doughnuts) and knee and wake boards. Likewise instruction is available for beginner skiers. The resort is closed from mid April to Mid July.

Notes

* If parents would rather their children were in their own room they will need to pay the child rate for 12-16 year old.
Residents can book with 30 days of arrival and must show proof or residency at time of booking.
Resident rates are not static and may change during the year. Please check if you are in any doubt or contact the reservations office.

What is Included? Full board accommodation, use of paddle boards and kayaks, swimming pool, game drives, water at meals, laundry and WIFI.

What is excluded? All drinks from the bar, and boating activities. Fishing, snorkeling, dhow trips and visits to Lamu and neighbouring islands can be booked at the lodge.Airport Transfers will be charge at 7,500/- per booking.

Check in / Check out: Guests arriving early and departing on a later flight will be charged late departure fees of 3,500/- per person. All extras must be settled before departure.
